Davis Walp

Founder and CEO

Davis Walp, founder and CEO of CuriMeta, brings more than 25 years experience across lifesciences manufacturer, professional services, and health information technology segments to the leadership team. With a background in executive leadership and general management of healthtech startups spanning precision medicine, RWE data analytics, clinical/observational research, and patient engagement, Davis will ensure CuriMeta invests in and creates best-in-class real-world, anonymized health data and research solutions to improve healthcare for all.

Prior to founding CuriMeta, Davis was an executive leader at Decision Resources Group, a global products and professional services business focused on providing health analytics, insights, and consulting services. Davis also has held leadership roles at Veradigm where he was responsible for general management of research offerings to CROs and pharmaceutical sponsors, Allscripts, where he led precision medicine strategy and partnership development, and ConvergeHEALTH by Deloitte, where he was responsible for product and customer strategy, client delivery, and collaborative research solutions. Davis also spent over a decade at Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and GlaxoSmithKline in strategic marketing, new product planning, and corporate development roles.

Davis holds a MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration and the University of Rochester.

Darren Brodeur

Chief Commercial Officer

Darren Brodeur has served as a member of the Founding Team and Chief Commercial Officer at CuriMeta since May 2020. As CCO, Brodeur is responsible for leading and executing CuriMeta’s commercial strategy for advanced, de-identified real-world health data and non-interventional clinical research services, as well as accelerating revenue through strategic research partnerships and collaborations with leading academic health centers and health systems, life science companies, and clinical research organizations.

Brodeur brings experiences from multiple start-up ventures as well as a publicly traded, global Healthcare Information Technology organization to CuriMeta. Brodeur previously served as VP,  Business Development & Emerging Data Markets at Veradigm–An Allscripts Company, one of several senior executive positions he held during his nine-year tenure with the organization. In 2011, Brodeur helped create the Life Sciences business unit within Allscripts, where he focused on expanding the commercialization of de-identified clinical and claims data, as well as innovative EHR workflow solutions, and led cross-functional teams to develop long-term, complex commercial agreements with life science organizations, data aggregators, analytics companies, and HIT firms. Additionally, in 1994, Brodeur Co-Founded MBL Communications, Inc., a global healthcare media, publishing, and continuing medical education company grounded in clinical psychiatry and neuroscience. As President & Associate Publisher, Brodeur led management teams across sales, business development, marketing, and compliance, and built long-term strategic partnerships with Fortune 100 biopharmaceutical companies and leading medical schools.

Brodeur holds a BA from San Diego State University.

Alice Kochunov

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Alice Kochunov serves as CuriMeta’s Chief Medical Officer. In this role, Dr. Kochunov brings smart data strategy design to fruition for our partners and collaborators. In an increasingly complex data landscape, Dr. Kochunov helps our partners create a focused, innovative, and ethical data strategy designed to transform processes ranging from drug development to market strategy.

Dr. Kochunov brings over two decades of data, technology, and clinical transformation experience to CuriMeta. She previously served as the Associate Chief Health Officer at IBM Watson Health and Vice President at healthcare consulting companies The Advisory Board and Clinovations. She has also held positions at Allscripts, Deloitte Consulting, and Zynx Health. During her career, she has worked with life sciences organizations, including medical device and pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and healthcare delivery clients ranging from individual ambulatory clinics and small regional medical centers to large academic institutions and integrated delivery networks.

Dr. Kochunov holds an MD from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Chemistry from Franklin & Marshall College.

Bill Stephens

Chief Technology Officer

Bill Stephens has served as CuriMeta’s Chief Technology Officer since July 2022. As CTO at CuriMeta, Stephens leverages his technology experience in clinical data, and security to define and oversee the deployment of a HITRUST certified environment and technologies that enable data management of large-scale clinical data sets (structured and unstructured), data analytics, and the production of de-identified and synthetic data sets to support our data commercialization efforts.

Stephens brings 25 years of leadership, data, and engineering experience across Fortune 100 businesses, academic healthcare institutions, and multiple startups. His most recent roles have focused on the Columbus, Ohio startup community, including several director-level roles in engineering and data.

Stephens holds two BS degrees from The Ohio State University in Computer and Information Science and Human Nutrition.

Catherine L. Matthes

Chief Financial Officer

Catherine Matthes (“Cathy”) has served as CuriMeta’s Chief Financial Officer since 2020. As CFO, Matthes directs and oversees the funding of CuriMeta, advises on strategic direction, and is responsible for finance, accounting, tax, and other operational matters.

Matthes brings financial, operational, transactional, and strategic service experience to CuriMeta from her multiple C-suite experiences. She especially has a niche in providing contracted financial, operational, transactional, and strategic services to entrepreneurial businesses, most specifically in the venture-backed, life sciences, and medtech sectors. Overall, Matthes amassed over 24 years of experience across a range of leadership, business development, and operational roles in both large and start-up life science companies.

Matthes holds a BSBA from the University of Missouri and holds a Certified Public Accountant designation. She is also a proud recipient of the 2006 Most Influential Business Woman and 2015 CFO of the Year awards.

Craig White, PhD

Chief Data Officer

Craig White, PhD, is a researcher with over 20 years of experience in healthcare data and analytics. Craig’s research has covered pharmaceutical pricing methodologies, innovative uses of RWD in clinical development and traditional health economic models and cost-effectiveness analyses. Prior to his role as Chief Data Officer at CuriMeta Craig spent time in general management roles, and leading technical and research teams at Orion Health, ConcertAI, Precision Medicine Group, and IQVIA.

Dr. White received his PhD in Health Policy from Harvard University, and BE in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (1st Class) from the University of Auckland.

In his spare time he plays (and referees) soccer in an old guys’ league, is trying to get the neon wheels for his bike on Zwift, and gets his “ankles broken” by his basketball obsessed kids every time he tries playing basketball.

Purav Gandhi

Clinical Informatics & Research Advisor

Dr. Purav Gandhi has served as CuriMeta’s Clinical Informatics & Research Advisor since its inception. In this role, he is responsible for defining and refining the clinical data for research purposes, planning and execution of clinical studies, and building a world class research team to drive the entire vision to fruition.

He brings deep healthcare strategy, research and real-world data expertise to CuriMeta, through his experience working on various real world evidence studies across disease areas in collaboration with various MNC pharma organizations. He has been working in the real-world evidence space since past 10+ years since he co-founded ConvergeHealth by Deloitte and held various positions across product and clinical strategy within that organization.

Concurrently, Dr. Gandhi is also Founder and CEO of Healthark Insights, a global management consulting. He is a guest faculty member at his alma matter Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, where he teaches health informatics and use of artificial intelligence in healthcare.

Dr. Gandhi holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Gujarat University and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.

Christian Evans

Vice President of Business Development

Christian Evans brings 25 years’ experience and a successful track record spanning health information technology (digital transformation, real-world data/evidence, data platforms and patient engagement) and life science manufacturers (Pharmaceutical, Biopharma, Medical Device, and Clinical Research).  With a background of building businesses and meeting client needs, Christian will ensure CuriMeta’s value proposition of providing researchers Advanced Real-World Data to accelerate development of interventions and enabling precision medicine for patients is realized.

Prior to joining CuriMeta as a foundation team member, Christian lead the Life Science business units of Sutherland Global Services (Digital Transformation) and Innovaccer (Data Platform).  Christian was a key member of the Allscripts Payer & Life Sciences (Veradigm) business development team leading several client engagements across industry partners.  Prior to Allscripts, Christian spent 15 years with Life Science manufacturers (GSK, ZymoGenetics | BMS | The Medicines Company), always in a commercial leadership capacity.

Christian holds an MBA from Seattle University and a BS in Applied Mathematics from Western Washington University.

Nam Nguyen

VP Solutions – Informatics & Data Science

Nam Nguyen is a passionate Medical Informatics Professional, Data Product Manager, and Data Science VP with a mission to transform health data into actionable insights that improve patient outcomes. With over 15 years of experience in health data management, including Administrative Claims Data, Real World Data, and HIPAA de-identification, Nam has led initiatives in clinical decision support, quality measure R&D, NLP, data science, and the transformation of dirty health data into research-ready resources. As a former Chair of the HIMSS EHRA Privacy & Security Workgroup and a HITRUST Certified De-Identification Professional, Nam’s expertise in the compliant secondary use of health data has driven successful Real-World Evidence and Life Science initiatives.

Nam’s dedication to excellence extends to his technical program management and product management experience, earning him LEANSIGMA certification. Throughout his tenures at IMS Health, Practice Fusion, Allscripts, and Veradigm, Nam has overseen the iterative releases of Health Analytics Platforms, Custom Provider Directory Solutions for major health plans, and the creation of one of the largest claims-linked ambulatory EHR datasets on the market today. As an engaging communicator, Nam’s enthusiasm and warmth inspire others, while his strong sense of urgency, initiative, and experience ensure the best data gets into the hands of researchers.

Nam holds an eMBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology, as well as multiple Master of Science degrees from the University of San Francisco and the University of California at Davis.

Ben Kolt

VP, Data Contributor and Customer Success

Ben Kolt has been ears deep in data for over 20 years combining a passion for education with a deep need to understand.  His passion to make the world a better place by improving healthcare has defined his career. He began his healthcare journey working to help international molecular biologists identify novel targets and chemical pathways via computer, moved into leading teams delivering EHR implementation and support, then into a healthcare system leading a systemic transformation of the way caregivers were taught to use the EHR to effectively do their jobs.

His compete immersion in healthcare data began in population health management and value based care where he helped healthcare systems use data to make informed patient care decisions, manage best practices, and find efficiencies.  Using the same data, now in de-identified form Ben took his in-depth knowledge of the data and healthcare system practices to help pharma and life science companies use this same data to understand patients, drug effectiveness, and in the midst of the COVID pandemic, understand the who, what, when, where, how and sometimes why of COVID though collaboration with brilliant colleagues as passionate about healthcare as he is.

Prior to joining CuriMeta, Ben lead Life Science Clinical Data Products and Customer Experience for IBM Watson Health/Explorys, where he created client education, customer support & customer experience teams, built data products, supported sales teams worldwide, and improved customer satisfaction and retention; re-invented education teams at MetroHealth in Cleveland, OH; lead client technical services for CompuGroup/Noteworthy Medical’s EHR offerings; and lead technical training, support, and help other roles for the DNA and protein analysis customers of both lion bioscience/NetGenics and Lucidyx.

Ben earned both a Master’s degree in English Rhetoric and Composition and a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
